DISPATCH 001 - LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

A travel diary -

Los Angeles is an unusual city. A sprawling, seemingly never ending concrete metropolis sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the National Parks of the West Coast. Los Angeles can be hard to navigate and understand, but so easy to fall in love with.

During my time in LA I became very aware that I was in the place where so many of the stories that I’ve loved reading, watching and listening to, took place. Places like Sunset Boulevard, Venice Beach, Mulholland Drive… Some of the most iconic spots in the world are in this city.

You’re never more than one hour away from the beach, the mountains, or the desert. And there's always the lingering sensation that there’s a party going on that you weren’t invited to.

The mix of old school charm with a sort of decadent and creepy mysticism that lies in the shadows of the Hollywood Hills. It's ethereal, sometimes superficial, but always surfable. And deeply nostalgic.

On some days, when the sun sets in LA, the sky turns a tie-dyed mix of pink, orange and yellow. And when you gaze up at the sky there are hundreds of palm trees lining your field of vision, as far as your eyes can see. In those moments it really does feel like you’re in a dream, awake.
